Three trucks and some 40 cars were part of yet another major winter weather-related accident in the Midwest Saturday afternoon.
Part of northbound I-75 near Detroit was closed Saturday afternoon after slick roads caused the pileup. Michigan State Police report the initial crash occurred in the northbound lanes, but several other accidents occurred in the southbound lanes of the highway caused by gawkers.
The police said the southbound lanes reopened at about 6 p.m. and the northbound side about an hour later.
There were no fatalities, but several people were injured.
On the morning of Thursday, Dec. 8, part of I-96 in Michigan was shut down when 40 vehicles crashed. Then that afternoon, more than 50 vehicles — including at least a dozen trucks — were involved in a major mishap on I-90 in northeast Ohio. Both of these mishaps were also caused by winter weather and hazardous driving conditions.
